Just as I was about to write all about Christian

Hello All

If you did not know from the title, this week’s blog is about Christian losing the World Heavyweight Championship, The New World Champ, Randy Orton, and how that shapes out for the WWE going into the summer.

1st let’s start with Christian. My mind was set on writing a blog all about Christian and his finally winning a World Championship in WWE. But after watching Smackdown on Friday, that has all changed. Though he was only Champion for 2 days (I know Smackdown airs on Friday’s, but its taped on Tuesdays), I want to congratulate him on winning the big one in WWE. This was not his first world title. Back in February of 2006, when he worked for TNA he won his first World title. And that reign was longer than his most recent one (even though back when he won it, he beat Jeff Jarrett, who at the time was the owner of TNA, and never let anyone hold the belt for too long). So Christian is no stranger to being a champion, but him winning in WWE after being in the company, leaving then coming back, it was like vindication for him, I’m sure.

Now moving on to Randy Orton. We all know Randy’s story. He was with the group Evolution. And at 24 years old, he won his 1st world title. Later in his career, he became a super heel (bad guy), and would kick people in the head, and hit the RKO (that is his finishing move) on anyone at any time. He had an outstanding feud with John Cena back in 2009. He was my favorite wrestler at the time. Then all of a sudden, even as a heel, the fans started to like Orton, and started cheer for him, whenever he did anything. But instead of keeping him as a bad guy, WWE turned him in to a good guy, and I don’t think that is working for him. I think this character is very limiting to Randy. He is not Cena, he can carry being a heel, where as a guy like Cena, just cannot.

What does this mean for the world title, and the WWE going in to the summer? I’m not quite sure. Now that the WWE draft has taken place, and the rosters are set, it looks like we have new guys who are going to get a chance to be stars. Just this past week, on the same smackdown where we had a world title match, we also had Mark Henry come out and make his intentions of being a challenger for the title, known. Henry has never been a champion, and it was good to some new blood in the mix. Even Christian being champion was great because he was a guy who has never been to the top of the mountain in WWE. With a proven champion like Orton on smackdown with the world title, I think he can elevate these guys to take the place of the most recently retired Shawn Michaels, and Edge.

With a new World Champion, Smackdown may be turning the corner and become a big time brand for WWE.

AND THATS THE BOTTOM LLLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
