Hello All
I was paying very close attention to TNA for the last few weeks. I have been doing this for a few reasons. One reason is because leading up to Wrestlemania, I did a lot of writing about WWE. Even after Mania, I did a Mania wrap up blog. So I wanted to do a lot more writing about things happening outside of WWE. Two, is because I want to bring light to the other companies. I can watch TNA every week, so it is easy for me to keep up with them, but I try to read as much about Ring of Honor and the NWA as I can. So for these reasons I have been paying attention to TNA.
That being said, as I have been watching TNA, something came to my mind. I have been watching great matches between Beer Money, and Gunner and Murphy. There was also a 4 corners match between tag team partners. Then I watched Bully Ray, Matt Hardy, and Abyss vs. Fortune. I even watched a little (and I do mean a little) bit of the Knockout (Women) matches. As I finished watching all of these matches I wondered to myself, is TNA doing themselves a disservice by showcasing all of their great wrestlers throughout the show, only to slow down the show with the World Championship.
I think by now, you all know me well, and know how I feel about the World Title of any company in pro wrestling. But if you don’t, here goes. I think the World Heavyweight Championship (in all companies, and the WWE Championship) is the most important part of a company. The champ is the driver of the bus, the captain of the ship, and to steal a line from, maybe the greatest world champ of all time, Ric Flair, the champ is the dealer. So as you can see, I think the champ is the one.
But in TNA for as long as I have been paying attention (which admittedly is only for about the last 4-5 years), I think that there has only been two people to hold their world title, who you would consider to be the best most exciting guys on their roster. Two people whom you would say are on top of their game. Two people who made you care about that title, and they are Kurt Angel, and AJ Styles. Other than those two, the world championship has been worn by guys, who though they may be good guys and respected back stage or even by fans, they are not guys I would say are driving the bus.
I think TNA could do themselves a lot of good by breaking up some of their tag teams, and making those guys the new superstars. I know they have the best tag team wrestlers in the business, but as we all know, some of the best world champions in this business have started out as tag team champions. I have no problem with Sting as a person (I haven’t heard anything bad about him business wise) or as a wrestler. And I loved him 20 years ago when he was starting, but how many times do I need to see him with the championship.
I think if they broke up the British Invasion (Doug Williams/Brutus Magnus), Inc. Inc. (Jesse Neal/Shannon Moore), the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley/Chris Saban), and Beer Money (Robert Rude/James Storm), you would have 8 guys who will be able to carry this company into their next 10 years, as far as being single competitors, and even being the World Heavyweight Champion.
AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LLLLLLLLIIIIIIINNNNNNNEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You Edge!!!!!!!
Hello All
I am sorry I did not do a blog last week. After Wrestlemania, and all that comes with it, I needed to take a weekend off. And I know I am late, but I will have my Mania pictures up this week, I promise (and if you missed me on the radio, you can drop me an e-mail, and I will send you a copy).
Now that that is all out of the way let’s get into wrestling. I know I have been very WWE focused lately with Mania coming around, and I have not mentioned a lot about TNA. I planned to make this blog all about TNA, but I would be remised to not talk about Edge and his abrupt retirement.
On Monday Night Raw, this past week, Edge came out in front of the fans, and retired, sighting injures over the past almost 20 years in the business. He was feeling pain and numbness in his arms and a loss of feeling in them. This is being called Cervical Spinal Stenosis.
Edge started his career back in 1992, on the independent circuit. He was traveling around Canada doing the Indys for years, until he made it to the WWE in 1998. From his WWE debut, he was a small time wrestler, who would always run through the crowd, and excite the fans. Later he and his best friend (WWE wrestler) Christian, and another wrestler, Gangrel, came together to form a wrestling faction named the Brood.
Edge would find singles success in 1999, winning his 1st Intercontinental Championship. This would not be the last title Edge would win. Though they dropped Gangrel, Edge and Christian went on to become a very accomplished tag team, winning the WWE World Tag Team Championships 7 times. The team stayed together until 2001, when both decided to focus on being singles competitors.
Edge became an up and coming superstar, winning back the Intercontinental title, the WCW US title, when they invaded the WWE, and even the King of the Ring Tournament, before he went down in 2003 with a neck injury. He was kept off of TV for a whole year.
Coming back in 2004, Edge won another IC title, World Tag Team Title; he even won the 1st Money in the Bank ladder match, guaranteeing him a World Title match. They even put his business on TV, when they brought up the fact that Lita, who was dating Matt Hardy at the time, and Edge were having an affair. Edge also started to change as a performer. The Entire time he was in WWE he was a baby face (good guy), until he came back from the injury. Then he turned heel (bad guy). He did everything in the WWE except win a World Championship till 2006.
Edge became the WWE champion after the New Year’s Revolution pay per view, after John Cena competed in the Elimination Chamber match. Though this was not a very long title reign, it would prove not to be his last. Edge would go on to win 10 more Championship, and the World Tag Team Titles, again. But on July 3rd 2009, Edge suffered an Achilles tendon injury.
And now, because of all of the injuries over an almost 20 year career, it is hard to see him go. But he said on Monday, he would not trade it for anything, and as a fan, I would still watch Edge entertain me. Good Luck Edge!

In my opinion
Hello All
I know I normally do just one blog a week, but since last night was Wrestlemania, I think I should do a blog about what I saw.
And you guys know I do not like to kill anyone writing this blog. That is not the reason why I started writing, but I think I should tell you what I saw that was good, and what I did not understand. Maybe you can tell me what you think, and even if you have heard something that I didn’t, you can let me know.
I will start off with the things I did not like very much, and end up with the things I liked. So as I walk in to the Georgia Dome and head to my seat, I am listening to what sounds like the announcer, and he is calling wrestlers names out. I think to myself, “that’s no big deal, I didn’t want to watch any of the dark matches anyway”. But when I look to see who is wrestling I see Sheamus, and Daniel Bryan. It was 6:15; I thought the show did not start till 6:30. And furthermore I thought this was going to be a title match, between two guys who are getting some good heat from the fans, why would you put this on the pre-show. Why advertise the match, if you were going to make hit happen before people were in the building.
The first match of the night……..The World Heavyweight Championship. Yes you are reading this correctly. The World title match was the first match. Alberto Del Rio won the Royal Rumble. Edge is an 11 time world champion. You think these two would have a great match later on in the card, but no, this was the 1st match. I have no idea why on earth this happened. I am still puzzled about this.
Next I am going to talk about 2 matches that I was looking very forward to, going in. They turned out to be kind of boring, and took too long to get to what we all knew would happen, we all wanted to happen, and what really had to happen. 1st Randy Orton vs. CM Punk. I was looking so forward to this match. They did a great job building it up. I thought, going in to this match with these young guys, we would have a fast paced match. Much to my chagrin, the match was very slow and plotting. It was almost like two old men were wrestling. And although the finish was good, it was very predictable. The other match I was referring to was Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Michael Cole. This match did almost nothing for, not only me, but nothing for the Miz. This match should have been a 5 minute match. Lawler should have gotten his hands on Cole, and beat the crap out of him. But he struggled. So let me get this straight, this 61 year old man, who gave the WWE champion all he could handle, twice, can’t kick the crap out of this out of shape announcer? Neither match made sense.
I won’t even waste my time talking about the Snooki match.
And ultimately the “Main Event”. It was Wrestlemania, so I did not have a problem with both the Miz, and John Cena having new entrances. If you have seen Cena at any other Mania where he was in the main event, then you know he puts on a show. Last night was no exception. So, the match goes on and the two fight to the outside, and Cena clotheslines the Miz outside, and both men are counted out. Then the Rock comes down and restarts the match, only to then rock-bottom Cena, and cost him the match. I did not understand this at all. Why would the Rock restart to the match, just to hit his move on Cena? Could he not wait till the match was over? Could he have just let the match end like that, and go down, and kick butt on both men, as he did anyway? What was the point of him restarting the match?
I did not understand the lineup for this night. Again you had the World title match 1st. You had the Snooki match next to last. And you had the Undertaker match that had a great build up, not the main event. Also for the 1st time since going to the brand extension, and having 2 main event World title matches for each brand, you did not have a title change. I don’t understand that at all.
So now we move on to the things I loved about the night.
The 8-man tag team match surprised me very much. Although, if you heard me on 790am the zone (in Atlanta) you know I did not have much interest in the match. But it was pretty good. It was just long enough for you to see all of the guys do some of their moves, but not long enough for you to get bored.
Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes was a pretty good match. We had a young guy (who was from here and got some people to actually cheer for him) get a good win over the vet at Mania. Rhodes is starting to become a big heel. He won this match pretty much on his own (with a little help from a knee brace). He beat one of the men who held the World title last year. I think we are moving Rhodes up the ladder as a singles competitor.
Even though I spoke of things I did not like about either title match, I thought both of the matches themselves were pretty solid. I thought they had enough action to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats.
And last but certainly not least the match of the night, Undertaker vs. Triple H. The streak was extended. This was a back and forth matches between two of the best in the business today. I read somewhere that this Wrestlemania would not have a guy who would be “Mr. Wrestlemania”. I believe we have him. And his name is the Undertaker.
Overall I think it was a great event. I give it a solid B+. The match order and the whole Snooki thing really made me pull down the grade. If they would have changed those, this show would have been an A.
AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: My personal pictures from Mania will be up soon.

IT'S WRESTLEMANIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello All
This will be a quick blog. In case you have been living under a rock, then you wouldn’t know, but tomorrow is the Show Case of the Immortals, Wrestlemania.
Because I normally do a blog every Sunday night, and since tomorrow I will be at Wrestlemania, I will be doing a prediction blog today (Saturday).
The Core vs. Kane, the Big Show, Santino Marello, and a mystery partner: I am going to go with The Core. The Core has been together for a long time now (all but one of their members are from the original Nexus), and they have been pretty dominate on Smackdown, since they joined that roster.
Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan
for the United States Championship: Bryan was US champion for a while, until he lost his title to Sheamus on an episode of Raw a few weeks ago. I am picking Sheamus. He is a 2 time WWE Champion, and last year he was in a big match with Triple H. So I think he is a bigger star than Bryan.
Snooki, Trish Stratus, and John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler, Laycool, and Vicki Guerreo: I so couldn’t care less about this match. I hope it is not long. I will go with the team of Snooki Trish and Morrison, because I think the WWE brought Snooki in to look good, not to get beat up.
Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes: In this match if Rey loses, he will have to lose his mask. I really doubt that the WWE will disrespect Rey the way the WCW did, and make him unmask, so I am going to pick Rey to win this match.
Randy Orton vs. CM Punk: This could be the match of the night. These two have built up a great rapport. They have been going back and forth with each other, since the end of last year. I really don’t know who is going to pull this one off. I am going to go with Orton, but only because he is one of my favorite wrestlers, and has been for about 5 years, but I could see it going either way.
Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole: I have the opposite feeling about this match than I do about the Snooki one. This is a match between a retired wrestler, and a never been wrestler. But the build for this match has been excellent. They have been building on this one since late last year also. And Cole has been hitting Lawler below the belt; costing him championships, bringing his family into it. I am picking Lawler, because we have all gotten tired of Cole.
Triple H vs. Undertaker: This is going to be a barn burner (as good ole JR would say). These guys have both been out for at least 6-months, and even though they have been back for about a month promoting their match, they have not wrestled. This is going to be a good match. I think WWE spoiled my prediction, because I was going to say that Shawn Michaels would come back, and cost Triple H the match, saying “If I can’t beat Taker, I am not going to let my best friend do it”. So with that said Taker runs his streak to 19-0.
John Cena vs. the Miz for the WWE Championship: I am looking forward to this. Not because of the match, which I believe will be a 3.5-4 star match, but because the Rock, and Cena have been entertaining me since the Rock came back at the beginning of March. I really believe that, even though the Rock and Cena have been feuding, and Cena gave an attitude adjustment to the Rock, I think the Rock will help Cena win the title.
Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship: I don’t really have a good feeling about this match. On one hand the WWE doesn’t like to give a heel the championship at Wrestlemania (i.e. Randy Orton at Mania 25). But I don’t see the company letting the Royal Rumble winner lose the main event at Mania for the 4th year in a row. I believe they will let Edge win, just to have him lose the title on Smackdown on Friday. But I could also see Christian costing Edge the title. But if I had to give my opinion, I think we will have a new World Heavyweight Champion.
I hope you all have enjoyed this blog. Next week, I will do a regular one. And I will be uploading my pictures from Mania.
